As explained on the I.P.C.S. website, the English pattern used in the Btitish Isles originates in the Rouen Pattern, it is particularly obvious in this replica of a XVIIIth century early deck which also illustrates very well the early English pattern.
This piquet deck has 32 cards, backs are a reproduction of one of the original cards back which was white as were almost every backs on packs of cards using the french suits before the XIXth century.
A very interesting and clear example of simply stenciled pip cards as was done in the French tradition.
Cartomancy aficionados will enjoy the fact that all cards – save the numeral cards of diamonds – are reversible and not vertically symetrical.
