Portuguese “Dragon cards” replica

Out of stock

Portuguese deck, spanish suits with Dragon type aces and Knight, Queen and King as honours.

This is a replica of a XIXth century deck from the Museo Fournier de Naipes de Álava.

“Dragon aces” are a specificity of late spanish suited portuguese decks, and have clearly influenced several of Japanese playing cards, but they may well find their origins in older spanish decks as demonstrated by Trevor Denning in his excellent book The Playing Cards of Spain.
